THE GIZMO & SAMMY FUND

GIZMO

When her beloved Maine Coon cat Gizmo died, Nancy Cullen wanted to establish a special fund in his honor. Gizmo was a very special cat who received the very best of veterinary care and much love from Nancy and her family and friends. The Gizmo Fund was set up by Nancy in 2001 to provide for the special veterinary care that might be needed by the Standish Humane Society shelter cats. Nancy came to know Standish and chose it as the home of The Gizmo Fund because of Samantha, her sister Barbara's cat. Sammy was orphaned at age 7 and spent 1 year at Standish before being adopted by Barbara, a Standish volunteer who sponsored Sammy during her year in the shelter. Sammy spent 12 wonderful years with Barbara and her husband, Greg, before passing away in early 2007. In honor of Sammy, The Gizmo Fund has been re-endowed in February of ‘07 by Nancy and renamed The Gizmo & Sammy Fund.

BOBBI IS ONE OF THE RECIPIENTS OF THIS WONDERFUL FUND......

Below is a picture of a now, very happy BOBBI. She was a stray who was living outdoors, pregnant with a badly mangled and painful tail. When Standish brought her in , they set up an appointment with a vet to have the tail amputated which made her a BOB-tail. She is seen below showing off her new stubby, but happy ending.  The Gizmo Fund has been set up to provide this care. Nancy Cullen has generously set up this special fund and her family and friends have contributed in loving memory of Gizmo. Your donation to The Gizmo & Sammy Fund would be very much appreciated. Then the next time a cat arrives at the shelter with a serious, but operable, condition, we will not wonder if Standish can afford this expensive surgery and how it will affect our budget.  We will know that The Gizmo & Sammy Fund will provide for other cats like it has for BOBBI
