We speak for those who cannot speak for themselves

May 2016.  We are grateful to have received a $500 check from Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation.  The employee requesting the grant was Sheri Scarpino.  Sheri adopted a kitten from Standish Humane Society in January 2013 and wanted to say thank you to us for allowing her to find her best friend, Benson.
About the Community Spirit 9/11 Mini-Grants Program:
To commemorate those Harvard Pilgrim members who lost their lives on September 11, 2001, Harvard Pilgrim and its Foundation created the Community Spirit 9/11 Mini-Grant program.  This program enables employees from Harvard Pilgrim, Health Plans Inc. (our affiliate) and NTT Data (our IT partner) to award an annual grant, completely funded by the Foundation, to the
local charity of his or her choice.  The program began in 2002, and almost $5 million has been given.

The Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Foundation was created in 1980 to support Harvard Pilgrim's mission to improve the quality and value of health care for the people and communities they serve by providing the tools, training and leadership to help build healthy communities.  $125
million in funds has been distributed.

Generosity Abounds!

All Paws Rescue was a wonderful rescue and adoption organization operated in Hingham by Margot Quadros.  When All Paws decided to cease operation in 2014, Standish assisted Margot by taking her remaining shelter cats into our Holmes House for adoption.  Margot was  very grateful and has since provided funds to support our mission.   Margot visited Holmes House yesterday with her latest generous donation of over $8,600!  Margot told us that she couldn’t think of another humane organization that was more deserving of support and said ‘Standish does an extraordinary job in helping the animals!’  Many thanks to Margot and please know that Standish will use the funds to make the world a better place for the animals.

Standish was recently the lucky recipient of the generosity and hard work of a group of seniors at Hanover High School.  Niamh Leech, Justin Rusko, Danielle Zarella and Brendan Willet built a luxurious cat tower for the kitties to play and lounge on and they also sold chocolates and raised $450 for use in Standish's crucial programs to help the animals of the south shore.   Standish is fortunate that these young people care so much and took action to make the world a better place for the animals.  Two members of the group visited our shelter to present the check and also brought along a basket of goodies for the kitties.  Many thanks to Niamh, Justin, Danielle and Brendan
The beautiful cat tower for the comfort and play ground for the kitties.

Dear Standish Supporters and Volunteers:

Thank you for your fantastic support in 2016!  Your generosity, in time and donations, allowed Standish to uphold its commitment to the animals of southeastern Massachusetts.  Your trust in Standish means the world to us.   Here’s to a happy, healthy and successful 2017 for all of you!
